[Practical Application Review – Week 25]
Greetings,
We continue our journey of exploring all 260 chapters of the New Testament, five (5) chapters each week. Let us continue in the book of Romans.
Schedule – Week 25:
Please read and/or listen to Romans 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Even though reading and listening to the Bible being read is valuable, our primary goal is learning to live the Bible (to the best of our ability).
Consider our Practical Application Review process…
For “every” chapter:
Step 1: Select a passage of interest
Step 2: Identify area of teaching
Step 3: Consider a practical application
Now let us explore an example (of our three-step process) for each of these five chapters…
Text #1: Romans 4
Passage: (vv. 1-5)
Teaching: Abraham was not justified through works, but by faith. He believed in God and it was counted to him for righteousness.
Application: No one can possibly ever be good enough on their own. May we learn to trust our Lord God to justify sinners through faith in Him.
Text #2: Romans 5
Passage: (vv. 6-11)
Teaching: Christ Jesus died for the sake of wicked sinners. The blood of Jesus justifies us before God and delivers us from God’s holy wrath.
Application: I release all of my sin to God and accept my Lord Jesus’ blood for my cleansing. Truthfully, I am eternally grateful to my Wonderful Savior and Lord.
Text #3: Romans 6
Passage: (vv. 15-23)
Teaching: We will either be servants of sin or servants of righteousness. Choose one and be free of the other. Those who choose God become holy and receive life everlasting.
Application: My goal is to live this life for and with my Loving God. I pray that my life will be fully abandoned to Him, now and forever.
Text #4: Romans 7
Passage: (vv. 13-25)
Teaching: The law exposes and condemns sin. There is a struggle between the spirit and the flesh. Not always doing what is good and right, but doing the sin which dominates.
Application: If and when I feel distracted by sin, I must stop and pray. My choice to do good must be remembered always. Fight to do what is right always and allow Jesus to help me whenever feeling overcome.
Text #5: Romans 8
Passage: (vv. 12-17)
Teaching: We are not indebted to live after the flesh. Through the Holy Spirit, we can learn to subdue our own body. We must not live in bondage. We should be led by God’s Spirit.
Application: Today I choose to live exclusively for my Creator and God. I request the Holy Spirit to guide me along this exciting journey. And carry me whenever I am at my weakest moments.
