[Practical Application Review – Week 50]
Greetings,
We continue our journey of exploring all 260 chapters of the New Testament, five (5) chapters each week. Let us continue in the book of Revelation.
Schedule – Week 50:
Please read and/or listen to Revelation 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
Even though reading and listening to the Bible being read is valuable, our primary goal is learning to live the Bible (to the best of our ability).
Consider our Practical Application Review process…
For “every” chapter:
Step 1: Select a passage of interest
Step 2: Identify area of teaching
Step 3: Consider a practical application
Now let us explore an example (of our three-step process) for each of these five chapters…
Text #1: Revelation 8
Passage: (vv. 1-4)
Teaching: There was silence in Heaven for about half an hour. Then, an angel offered incense with the prayers of all the saints. The smoke, incense and prayers ascended to God.
Application: May I never be too busy to offer my sincere prayers to God. Honestly, He has provided life and breath. Plus, everything else. He is always worthy of my very best.
Text #2: Revelation 9
Passage: (vv. 18-21)
Teaching: Three plagues accounted for the death of many people. Those who survived did not repent of their evil works. Unfortunately, none of them learned the reason behind the tragedy.
Application: I am always open to the idea of continually learning from my circumstances. If my decisions or choices bring about grave consequences, I am ready to repent and change.
Text #3: Revelation 10
Passage: (vv. 5-7)
Teaching: An angel raised his right hand to Heaven and swore by our Creator who lives forever and ever, that there shall be no more reckoning of time. The mystery of God (prophesy) is now fulfilled.
Application: Unfortunately, our time on Earth is only temporary. Let us help to do and share the good things written about in the Holy Scriptures. May our loved ones discover the pathway to God through Jesus.
Text #4: Revelation 11
Passage: (vv. 15-18)
Teaching: The seventh angel spoke that the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our God and Lord Jesus, and He shall reign forever and ever. And the elders worshipped God.
Application: I realize a day is coming when all of the human rulership on Earth will end. Truthfully, I am excited about being governed only by my Heavenly Father God and Lord Jesus Christ.
Text #5: Revelation 12
Passage: (vv. 9-12)
Teaching: The accuser of the brethren, the devil, has been cast down to the Earth. God’s people conquer him by the blood of Jesus and word of their testimony. The devil’s wrath is great, because he knows his time is short.
Application: Oh, that we may focus exclusively on God and refocus ourselves away from the distractions of the devil. Remember, the blood of Jesus and word of our testimony help us to prevail.
