[Practical Application Review – Week 11]
Greetings,
I trust you are enjoying time in God’s Word each week. There is wisdom inside of every single chapter of the Bible.
Can you believe that we are already in the third book of the New Testament? Matthew and Mark are finished. We now continue in Luke.
Schedule – Week 11:
Please read and/or listen to Luke 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
Even though reading and listening to the Bible being read is valuable, our primary goal is learning to live the Bible (to the best of our ability).
For “every” chapter:
Step 1: Select a passage of interest
Step 2: Identify area of teaching
Step 3: Consider a practical application
Now let us explore an example (of our three-step process) for each of these five chapters…
Text #1: Luke 7
Passage: (vv. 39-50)
Teaching: A Pharisee invited Jesus to his house. A certain woman also came, to see Jesus. The Pharisee provided only the location. The woman brought a heart full of love. Jesus pointed out that some love little and others love much (based upon their level of being forgiven).
Application: As one who has been forgiven by God, I willingly release my love and appreciation to Jesus. May He feel my sincere gratitude as I share it with His people.
Text #2: Luke 8
Passage: (vv. 26-39)
Teaching: Jesus cast demons out of man who was living in the cemetery. The man wanted to follow Jesus by physically travelling with Him. Jesus instructed him to go to his home and share what the Lord has done for him (testimony).
Application: I also can share with others what the Lord has done in me. Today, this can be done in person and online virtually.
Text #3: Luke 9
Passage: (vv. 51-56)
Teaching: Jesus sent messengers ahead of Him as they journeyed. When certain people would not welcome Jesus and His disciples, James and John wanted to call fire down from Heaven to consume them (like Elijah did). Jesus rebuked them and said the Son of Man did not come to destroy, but to save lives.
Application: Whenever I am not fully welcomed in the name of Jesus, I must continue on. God always has a plan for each of His children. And never feel hateful against other people (especially those who do not understand).
Text #4: Luke 10
Passage: (vv. 17-20)
Teaching: When the seventy (70) people returned, they provided Jesus an incredible update. Jesus spoke of seeing Satan falling like lightning as a result of their ministry (even the demons submitted in Jesus’ name).
Application: By God’s grace, I have enjoyed ministry work for over forty (40) years. And even now, my favorite part is seeing God glorified and people given a fresh new start (do-over).
Text #5: Luke 11
Passage: (vv. 1-4)
Teaching: At the disciples’ request, Jesus taught them how to pray. Approach Father God in reverence. Request His Kingdom and His Will be done on Earth. Ask for your needs every day. Pray for God’s forgiveness, while offering it to those who have offended you.
Application: I desire God’s Kingdom to be fully established and His Will to be done always. As I receive of God’s goodness, I willingly share with others. May all come to experience Father God’s love through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
