[Practical Application Review – Week 48]

Greetings,

We continue our journey of exploring all 260 chapters of the New Testament, five (5) chapters each week.  Let us review 2 John, 3 John, Jude and start Revelation.

Schedule – Week 48:

Please read and/or listen to 2 John, 3 John, Jude and Revelation 1, 2

Even though reading and listening to the Bible being read is valuable, our primary goal is learning to live the Bible (to the best of our ability).

Consider our Practical Application Review process…

For “every” chapter:

Step 1: Select a passage of interest

Step 2: Identify area of teaching

Step 3: Consider a practical application

Now let us explore an example (of our three-step process) for each of these five chapters…

Text #1: 2 John

   Passage: (vv. 9-11)

Teaching: Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the teaching of Christ does not have God.  Do not welcome such a one to your house to eat or be a partaker of his evil works.

Application: I strongly embrace the gospel of my Lord Jesus Christ.  Perhaps, I do need to be more careful in my selection of friends, especially within my inner circle.

Text #2: 3 John

   Passage: (v. 11)

Teaching: Do not follow that which is evil, but that which is good.  He who does good is of God.  He who does evil has not seen God.

Application: Only God really knows what is good, so I choose to focus my attention on Him.  May my life radiate the goodness of God so others are blessed as well.

Text #3: Jude

   Passage: (vv. 14-15)

Teaching: Enoch prophesied of the Lord coming with tens of thousands of His saints to execute judgment upon all.  Also, to punish all who are ungodly in their deeds, manner and words.

Application: I desire to be one of those connected to Jesus.  Each of us should be concerned about the consequences of our own doing.  May we be more careful of the things we say and do.

Text #4: Revelation 1

   Passage: (vv. 1-3)

Teaching: Jesus Christ revealed to the Apostle John what was coming.  Blessed are all those who read, listen and keep what is written herein.

Application: I am so thankful that our Lord Jesus has prepared us.  There is a blessing promised to those who are drawn in and obedient to our Lord’s commands.

Text #5: Revelation 2

   Passage: (vv. 1-7)

Teaching: Though the Church of Ephesus was somewhat favorable, they unfortunately left their first love.  Repent and do the first works.  Those who overcome get access to the Tree of Life.

Application: Oh, may we never fall away from our Loving God.  Let this day mark the change of my own heart and returning to full abandonment in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I desire to truly please Him and spend all of eternity with Him.
