[Practical Application Review – Week 43]

Greetings,

We continue our journey of exploring all 260 chapters of the New Testament, five (5) chapters each week.  Let us continue in the book of Hebrews.

Schedule – Week 43:

Please read and/or listen to Hebrews 7, 8, 9, 10, 11

Even though reading and listening to the Bible being read is valuable, our primary goal is learning to live the Bible (to the best of our ability).

Consider our Practical Application Review process…

For “every” chapter:

Step 1: Select a passage of interest

Step 2: Identify area of teaching

Step 3: Consider a practical application

Now let us explore an example (of our three-step process) for each of these five chapters…

Text #1: Hebrews 7

   Passage: (vv. 26-28)

Teaching: The kind of priest we need is pure without evil and undefiled being far from sin.  Jesus offered up Himself as a sacrifice and is perfect for evermore.

Application: I continually look to Jesus as my high priest.  His shed blood has given me an opportunity to be redeemed to God.

Text #2: Hebrews 8

   Passage: (vv. 10-13)

Teaching: God spoke of putting His law into His people’s minds and hearts.  He will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more.  The youngest to the oldest shall know Him.

Application: Continually reading and studying God’s Word helps to fill my heart and mind with His wisdom.  Prayer helps me to daily confess my own faults for forgiveness.

Text #3: Hebrews 9

   Passage: (vv. 24-28)

Teaching: Jesus Christ entered Heaven and appeared before God for our sakes.  His sacrificial gift, His blood, was offered only once to abolish sin.  Jesus to return for all those who look for Him.

Application: As my high priest, Jesus has paid my sin debt in full.  I am eternally grateful.  Now I share with others, while eagerly awaiting His return for His people.

Text #4: Hebrews 10

   Passage: (vv. 16-18)

Teaching: The Lord will put His law into the minds and on the hearts of His people.  Their sins and iniquities will no longer be remembered.  They are truly forgiven.

Application: Thank you, my loving God.  I welcome His covenant to integrate His law into my heart and mind.  All the bad is removed and now called to live totally for my God.

Text #5: Hebrews 11

   Passage: (vv. 32-38)

Teaching: So many examples of people who accomplished incredible things through faith.  Some overcome while others died for their faith, desiring a better resurrection.

Application: I enjoy hearing about great men and women of faith.  My desire is to live fully committed to Jesus, no matter what.  I also want to serve my fellow believers to remain strong at all times.
